How HomeBranches collects, uses, and protects your information — and the controls you have.

Last updated: July 13, 2026

HomeBranches helps you keep track of your home. That means you trust us with information about the place where you live. We take that seriously. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

Two things we want to be clear about up front:

  • We don't sell your data. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone.
  • You decide what gets shared. New records are private by default, and you choose what to include in reports or transfer packages.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, and password (stored securely as a hash). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google.

Uploaded Content

You choose what to upload — documents, photos, maintenance records, appliance details, notes, and similar information about your home. We store this content so you can access it later, generate reports, and share it on your terms.

Property Records

Details you add about your home — address, year built, square footage, features, and so on — help the app be more useful. You can edit or remove this information at any time.

Usage Analytics

We collect basic analytics about how the app is used — which features people open, error reports, performance data — so we can fix problems and make HomeBranches better. Where possible, this data is aggregated and doesn't identify you personally.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the app is performing. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

How We Use Information

  • To provide the service you signed up for.
  • To generate reports, transfer packages, and AI suggestions that you request.
  • To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
  • To send you important account, billing, or maintenance-reminder emails.
  • To improve HomeBranches based on how it's actually being used.

Sharing Controls

Every record in HomeBranches has one of three privacy levels:

  • Private — Only you can see it. This is the default.
  • Shared Family — Visible to family members you invite.
  • Transferable — Included in transfer packages you create for the next owner.

You can change any record's privacy at any time. Reports and transfer packages only include what you've selected — private records are never auto-included.

Who Can See Your Information

  • You, obviously.
  • People you invite or share with, only for the records you shared with them.
  • Recipients of a link or PDF you generate, only for what's in that report.
  • Our team, only when needed to support you, investigate a security issue, or comply with the law. We don't browse account contents casually.
  • Trusted service providers that help us run the service — cloud hosting, email delivery, payment processing. They only see what they need to do their job and are bound by confidentiality.

Your Rights

You can:

  • Access, edit, or delete records at any time.
  • Export a copy of your data from account settings.
  • Close your account at any time.
  • Unsubscribe from marketing emails (account emails are required as long as you have an account).

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws like the GDPR (Europe) or the CCPA (California). To exercise those rights, email privacy@homebranches.com.

Data Retention

We keep your content as long as your account is active. When you delete a record it's removed from active systems and purged from backups within a reasonable period. When you close your account, we delete your content shortly after — with a short grace period so you can change your mind — and keep only what we need to comply with law (like billing records).

Security Practices

Your account is protected by your password (or Google sign-in). Files and records are stored in a secure cloud environment with encryption in transit. We limit internal access to what team members need to support and operate the service. We review our practices regularly.

See our Security & Privacy page for a plain-English overview.

Children

HomeBranches is not intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

International Users

HomeBranches is operated from the United States. If you use it from another country, you're consenting to your information being processed in the US.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes, we'll let you know by email or an in-app notice before they take effect.
